Hi, can anyone advise me on which brand and style of lock this is in order to replace it. It’s not an emergency so I can’t call someone out due to covid restrictions. My pet gets into the kitchen when I’m cooking. All the doors have this lock but when I moved in i was told they never kept the keys! : Locksmith

It’s a Union Mortice lock. Google that and can find what you’re looking for. Better yet, just get a locksmith to make a key for the current lock. Most states field service locksmiths have been considered essential the whole way thru this. Mask and PPE is standard issue now days.

“I could’ve done that…”

If you could, why did you call me?

Protection on call?

I had a question about how you go about protecting yourself on call. No not talking about rioters or anything. I mean in regards to ensuring your assisting the actual owner. Looking at starting out and taking calls for my local area. But with that, I had a question. How do I insure that the person I'm assisting is the actual owner if they are unable to prove ownership?

While I live in a small town and don't really have a lot of worries about opening stolen cars up. I do want tot make sure I'm taking all legal precautions that I should be. Thank you.

[NEED ADVICE] So this afternoon I wanted to open my garage door and the key that normally opens this door doesn’t unlock the lock anymore. I have a couple keys and they all don’t work anymore, is there something I can do so it opens again or do I need to call a locksmith. Thanks in advance. : Locksmith

Honestly though, places for locksmiths and people that want to discuss unique locks are few and far inbetween. The more traffic this sub gets, the more people find it, and the more discussions we can have as a community. Some posts may get redundant but in the long run I think they’re helping as long as it’s not someone just saying “ay how do I get into this kwikset lock” I think it’s okay.

Entirely ready for the call a lock smith answers but will try anyway. Trying to change a medeco double keyed deadbolt so I don’t die in a fire if I can’t find the key. All instructional videos are about removing the faceplate. Did that and am stuck. Please help. Or not. I get it
