I can only find one place online and it’s like 86$. Or any other recommendations for something with the same function for the bathroom that will lock and unlock from the inside and outside? Doesn’t necessarily have to be a deadbolt. My daughter has seizures so we don’t let her lock the bathroom door because she had a seizure in there and we couldn’t get in with the push key. Thanks!
I asked about this here before, I asked r/homedefense, I asked SecuritySnobs and I asked Abloy support, and everyone is wrong.
My question was, can I go on vacation and lock all of the thumturns on my Abloy Protec2 deadbolts with lockable thumbturn?
The answer was always NO, as you need to unlock one of them to leave the house, so one lock with have an unlocked thumbturn
This is wrong. Just open the door, lock the thumbturn in the locked position, take your key out and put it in the outside of the door, unlock so you can close, then you can just lock it from the outside again
Now all your deadbolts have inoperable thumbturns, so if you go on vacation and someone busts a window, they still can’t use the door
I just wanted to post here, as it seems no one knew the correct answer
Quick question. Does your door have a window in it?
If it does then I would recommend not getting a single sided dead bolt. A window would allow an intruder/thief to punch out the glass and reach in and unlock the dead bolt. If your other locks are Schlage this one can be rekeyed easily enough to match what you have.
If your door does not have a window in it this can be either swapped out for a new single sided dead bolt or, check with your local locksmith, they may have parts and pieces to turn what you have into a single sided dead bolt.
Our shop keep a lot of odd and ends either form swap out jobs or cannibalizing other locks for parts.
If you actually own this lock and can prove it if not on the authorized users list, all you have to do is “Find a Dealer” on the schlage/allegion/primusXP website and call them. Do note they have contracts with schlage to not sell to anyone not authorized, ON PURPOSE, if this isnt your lock, no self respecting locksmith will sell you the key.
this was on a storefront on the edge of Chinatown, painted over at least once and was a real bitch to take off the door. Keyed on both sides, I don’t recognize the keyway and the owner can’t remember ever having a key. No brand name anywhere, but it says “HARDENED STEEL” on the center of each bolt. Luckily I sold him a new Yale jimmyproof and got to keep this one.
I’ll either finish cleaning and restoring it because its cool, or it’ll sit on my shelf untouched for ever because its cool, not sure which yet.
