[Question] Possible to replace this Medeco cylinder easily? : Locksmith

Hello,

Sorry if this is against the rules, I don’t think it is?

I have a 1980s safe with a secondary inner compartment inside. It used to have a time delay lock, but it was cut and has not been working for a while. The secondary door has this Medeco lock. I do not have the key, but luckily the door was left open. Am I able to just replace the cylinder on this with one of the many Medeco cylinder and key sets on ebay? Or do I need to get the entire thing?

Is this lock “openable”? it was a lock with a broken shackle, I picked it twice very easily and once I removed the shackle I couldnt pick it anymore : Locksmith

context: sometime ago my parents lost the key and had to broken the lock to get out of home and used the broken lock to lock the door from inside, using only the shackle, then I picked it twice in like seconds, removed the broken shackle and let the broken shackle “locking” the door from inside, now, with no shackle, I cant pick it anymore

also, what is this “button” on the lock? I have 2 other locks from this brand and only this one have it

We just moved into our office and want keyless entry with fob or key card (not a keypad). Does anybody make a key card reader that you can just replace this current deadbolt with without screwing new holes (property manager wants to be able to revert easily). What do I buy? : Locksmith

The short answer is no.

You really need a competent locksmith to come talk with you about your options. Search online for locksmiths who advertise commercial work. Most importantly, read the reviews from other customers. Also, if he comes out and you don’t like him, maybe he’s rude, or feel that he doesn’t know what he’s doing, call someone else. A novice or incompetent locksmith can really screw this up. If you can locate a city or regional locksmith association and get recommendations from them, you’ll be way ahead. An example would be the Greater Houston Locksmith Assoc.
