Curtis Clipper Ford 5A carriage needed! : Locksmith


I have no idea where my Curtis Clipper Ford 5A carriage is. I am so careful with those pieces and have been using them for decades! The various parts never get far in my truck but somehow… if I knew, I wouldn’t be so pissed off. It is just Gone. Does anyone have an extra for sale somehow somewhere? I have the cam. Much bigger. that darn small part is nowhere to be found!

My 2008 Ford Focus key broke. Can I still use the chip portion with a newly cut key? : Locksmith


Yes, that will work
When I was in highschool I broke the key to my old jeep wrangler and couldn’t afford a new chip key so I glued the chip portion to the inside of the steering column and used a non chip key to start and drive it. I also wired a kill switch so it wasn’t super easy to steal

2017 Ford F250 super duty bladed : Locksmith


hey guys; quick question:

2017 Ford F250 superduty all keys lost. non flip key transponder programmed fine. customer calls back when he purchased 2 flip keys with remote start [original did not have remote start]. He wants these to be cut & programmed. looked them up & they do have a different part number. I am confident the transponder will program but will the remote portion?

Depth and spacing for a 1955 Ford Thunderbird? : Locksmith


Does anyone have a source for depth and spacing data for a 1955 Ford Thunderbird trunk lock? A customer brought one in today and we haven’t been able to find anything. Codesource isn’t any help and lockcodes.com is useless since we don’t have a code series.

My co-worker sight read the lock and is pretty sure he’s got the first two cuts right but the rest are hard to see.

Appreciate any help.

2005 Ford 500 Ignition Lock : Locksmith


Hello everyone:

We had a customer bring us in an ignition lock to rekey. He gave us permission to drill out the part that holds the actual lock in place, but the shop is hesitant to do this. No one can seem to get it picked.

I don’t really have a lot of experience picking this type of lock, especially not a double sided lock, but I tried anyways. I felt like I got all the wafers in the right spots, bit the lock wouldn’t turn. I was applying tension clockwise. Is there some secret I don’t know? I was using the double ball pick. I asked one of the other locksmiths if it was possible to impression this lock and he said no. I thought we could do this for wafer locks?

We don’t really want to drill out the tab that holds the lock in place for safety reasons and we don’t have any Lishi tools. I saw an Eez Reader somewhere, but I don’t know how to use it and I’m not sure thst it would help. What would be the best thing to do in this situation?

I want to look in the lock and see what is going on, but the only tool I saw like that was a Hawkeye, and I’m not sure about using that one. Is there any cheap otoscope or USB endoscope that you all would recommend? I really don’t want to tell the customer we can’t do this because I think we should be able to, but it seems like low priority for everyone else…

I am making a lost key to a Ford pickup truck by pulling the door lock out and reading the wafers tumblers in the door lock. This will only give me part of the key oh, the rest of the key is found in the ignition lock cylinder.
