UK Front door lock change : Locksmith

I’ve just bought a house and the kind of lock I have on my front door is a lever pad style (so I’m told) which means I always need a key to open the door from the exterior.

Any idea if it’s possible to change the lock / multipoint system to a standard lift to lock style where the handles from both sides can unlock the door when unlocked or would I need to get a new door + possibly the frame

Cheers for any advice you can provide

Beach front help : Locksmith

Hey guys, my front door lock keeps getting fine sand in it. I looked for something like a dust cover but no dice. Any suggestions? What do people normally do in dust environments?

Also any smart locks worth having, I’d like to be able to open it remotely.

The front of the house is all windows so high security isn’t a priority. Many thanks..

Can I “un-interconnect” my front door lock? : Locksmith

My dog has gotten clever lately and has managed to open our locked front door from the inside. The lock is set up so that to lock it we turn a deadbolt, but to unlock it, you only need to turn the handle. There’s only one key (for the deadbolt, nothing for the handle).

What would you recommend to stop him from being able to escape when we leave? I’m not worried about him turning the deadbolt — I think if we could just have the lower handle and upper deadbolt not connected, it would solve the problem. Is that doable with the existing lock?

The inside of the lock looks like this, if it helps: . I think it’s close to a Schlage S210 but not exactly that due to having just the one key. I think if I could just remove the black plastic part in the lock (the one that’s got all the writing, “For Left Hand,” etc. it would do what I want) — but maybe that’s a terrible idea?

Latch is sticking on front door….replace? : Locksmith

My front door has a Schlage deadbolt and separate front handle. The handle is the type that uses a thumb button to open the door. The latch has started sticking inside the door when the button is depressed and then released. Once it is stuck inside the door, you have to hit the button multiple times to get the latch to properly pop out so you can close the door.

Is this something I can try to fix myself or is it time to replace it with a new version? It’s about 10 years old. I can post more info if needed.

Thank you.
