Master (brand) wafer pliers – where to cop these bad boys? : Locksmith

The shop has had this set for years, and boss man remembers possibly getting them from a Master rep, but I have had zero luck finding these to buy for myself. They make getting the wafers out of cam locks a dream, especially nice when I can’t order a bunch KA for commercial jobs and I have to swap wafers around manually.

If these are no longer made, can any of you recommend some other tool to make pulling cam lock wafers any easier? I find that the “pull on it with needlenose” or “put a slotted screwdriver underneath the wafer and tap the housing with a hammer” methods make me destroy wafers more often, and my CompX wafer kit is way unbalanced as it is.

Anyone know what pin kit I just bought? 2 different diameters of pins but some I have not seen before. Reminds me of universal pins by master : Locksmith

The split pins do resemble spool pins but are actually cut so deep that they are designed to break into 2 pieces. I imagine the lock would be top-loaded with a key inserted and then by turning the key you are able to break the shear line and have a key pin and driver pin in each cylinder.

The real security pins i found were 4 or 5 driver pins that are T-pins but the wide part of the pin has 1 or 2 serrations on the drivers. Also I still have no idea about the 3 skinny silver pins that look like “Pop Rivets” if you have seen those before

Is there a master for Illinois J series Cabinet Locks? : Locksmith

Hi Everyone,

Long story short I work in a building that has a ton of cabinets and drawers, each with one of these locks on it. Every single one has a different code (JXXX) and in the key box there are easily 100+ corresponding keys. We rarely lock them because it’s so inconvenient to deal with that many keys but occasionally someone will and it’s always a production to find the right key.

There wouldn’t happen to be a master for this series, would there? It would make things so much easier!

Thanks!

How many times have you had a customer that thought you owned a “Master Key” that opened every lock? : Locksmith

I went to do an open up at an office building downtown. It was a wesier smart key entry knob, the guy had locked his keys in his office. I could see the latch pretty clearly, so I decided to slide the latch. Just as I was about to start, the customer said “what are you doing? Why don’t you use your master key” It’s always hard not to laugh in that situation. So I told him we don’t have master keys for every single door in the city. He said that if he knew I was going to slide the latch, he would’ve just done it himself, so I started to pack up my tools and I said “okay, I guess you don’t need me then” and I left. About an hour later he called back, still locked out, I returned to find some pretty serious scratches and damage to the wood frame. I pulled out my tools and had it open in 30 seconds.

Anyone know much about these t-handle shed locks? Lockcodes says mk1 is a y11. Mk1 is supposed to be the master for these. It fits but the cuts are wrong. 036 is the user key and it brings up k1 keyway. Both say use card cx32. Neither work. I know I can just replace them for cheap enough.
