The spring isn’t pulling back the latch far enough to allow the door to open. I thought it would be easy to replace just that but the privacy pin is square because of it being a thumb lever type thing in the rosette. Need some help identifying parts to replace it. Antique door co was baffled. : Locksmith

Looks like one of those old National locks. They were designed to be replaced, not repaired, but the company went out of business a very long time ago. The National Cabinet Lock division is still around as NCL, but that won’t help with this.

I would just install a new privacy lock. The new locks are larger and will cover up the holes of the old one. I haven’t done residential work in years, but I think various brands make privacy locks with glass knobs.

Looking up replacement parts for the inside of a vertical “jimmy proof” deadbolt. : Locksmith

So, I moved into a new place and for some reason the deadbolt was the only thing working; I bought a whole new apartment entry lockset and a new deadbolt set. I opened up the apartment entry set and realized 5 seconds in…I don’t need the whole set. I just need to figure out how to replace this “Mortise” cylinder, which I quickly googled.

Then I realized, I didn’t need to replace the deadbolt (it had an issue where half the time it wouldn’t shut, I had to manually shut it a few times then it would shut with the key). I eventually cracked it open and noted a piece fell OUT. There’s a spinning portion circle around the handle on the interior that has two “wings.” One of those broke, and I assume the other was still able to do turn the mechanics, while the other one was meant to engage with the spring. I put it back onto my door because I needed to, but wasn’t sure how to arrange the single “wing” connecting to the keyside.

Where can I look up pieces for the inside of one of these locks? Are there generic parts? This is “Segal” brand locks. I think I may have already misplaced the spring that was also inside…

A replacement at home Depot is 18, that I already have here, I guess I’m not saving a ton on replacing a piece on this ANCIENT lock, am I?

Getting harder and harder to get parts and supplies…what about you guys? : Locksmith

Do you guys think this might have something to do with Corona?

Getting harder and harder to source parts and supplies like key-blanks, deadbolts, levers, etc.

Longer wait time, having to try more part houses.

Guessing a lot of this crap comes from China.

Anyone else experiencing the same thing right now?
