People who don’t cancel jobs : Locksmith

Hopefully I’m not the only person this happens to (or I guess hopefully I am 😅). Get to an after hours job, no customer in sight, nobody answering the door, customer blocks your number so you can’t call them. Your out an hour of your time, fuel and advertising costs and hopefully haven’t turned away jobs because of this one. It’s so frustrating.

Have one of these keys been duplicated? I left one of them with people that I don’t 100% trust over the weekend. Both keys open the same lock. : Locksmith

I feel like the risk of that actually happening is pretty low. The few that possess that skill with consistency are locksmiths…. I don’t know common criminals that have this skill in addition to having key blanks and a cutter, the wherewithal to slog through all of his posts and narrow it down to a place and then go to his house and use that key to unlock it. Seeeeeems like a stretch to me. Not to mention there’s another key in that photo with the actual code stamped on the face… even then it’s still a stretch.

It’s a defiant lock… so it’s not like the lock was an impenetrable fortress to begin with.

I have a Glass cabinet (Curio), Double door, Hinge open, 3mm Thick glass doors. How can I lock this? Amazon seems lacking. Most of the locks meant for hinge are a 8mm thickness minimum. I’m not trying to keep out smart people. Any crappy lock will do. Thanks!

Can I lock the door from the outside and keep out other people with the key? : Locksmith

My family keeps touching stuff in my room while I’m away so I was wondering if there was a way to temporarily disable the lock somehow, but so they don’t notice? I used to have a lock to which I had the only key, but they threatened to kick us out of the house if I don’t stop locking my door and after that they insisted on switching the lock for one with several keys so they could “get inside if they needed to”, which is exactly the opposite of what I wanted. Any advice (apart from moving out because I can’t really do that rn)? Thanks!

Firing People : Locksmith

Hello everyone:

First off, I want to preface this with the following: I am not at risk of being fired. With that being said, I just wanted to know what kind of reasons (other than missing work) have people been fired from your shop for?

Did you ever have a new office person who was a complete bitch to the locksmiths and the customers? Did you ever have a new locksmith who had such a bad attitude, you just had to let them go find work somewhere else? Did you ever have a locksmith destroy a lock against a customer’s wishes? Did you ever have someone lose a huge account, so big that it really effected your business’ bottom line?

Things like that. I just want to be aware of what things I should look for for when we finally get some more help in the shop. I would hate to get stuck with people that don’t fit in, people with terrible attitudes, idiots, etc..

Another day in Michigan. Sunshine makes the lack of people a bit more manageable. Stay safe everyone! : Locksmith

We did a ton of home repair and construction work over the years but I. The past 20 I would say less and less each year. We still get people that we’ve don’t work for that still call us for what I would say is handyman work . Which we do because they are lil ok ladies that we’ve know for decades. But people bring stuff in all the time, to get fix, furniture, doors. I’ve gone out the fix old expensive beds..

My family became owners about 40 years ago this location has been around for about 60 years the business itself has been around since 1912. The building is actually 2 buildings that we merged in The 80’s.

The main building was built in the late 40’s early 50’s.. the building we bought and expanded with was built in the 30’s.

We did the exterior renovation in the mid 80’s giving it this old times look. Since then we have kept that. We have updated the inside a couple times and are about 3/4 the way done with a new remodel if the inside.
