Resources for vintage locks : Locksmith

Hey all— I’m a carpenter and do a lot of antique door restorations, and it’s led to developing a strong interest in locksmithing. Particularly, I’m interested in working on vintage mortise locks and stuff like that. Would you be able to point me in the direction of any resources that might be helpful in learning how to work on vintage locksets? Any specialty tools to pick up? I appreciate your time.

ALOA testing resources : Locksmith

Hey guys, I finally became an RL, and super excited to start to study (for the first time ever) to become a CRL. Problem is, the PRP test book has a great list of resources for study material, but then the study material is like 15 other books (I E Baxter code system books) is there a more condensed resource for topics like that? Our lock shop has none of those, and I understand a lot is experience, I’m just wishing to expand my knowledge and move further with my career. I’ve been in the game for about 3 years now and have learned a lot.

List of Learning Resources : Locksmith

I have searched through a lot of posts looking for any resources I could find as someone just starting as a locksmith apprentice. Thought I’d make this post for any future apprentices looking for the same.

Not sure if location changes things in terms of learning information but I am in Australia and looking for either book titles, online resources, youtube channels, etc.

So far I’ve found these recommended previously; The Complete Book of Locks & Locksmithing – Bill Phillips, Lockpicking Lawyer Youtube, and ClearStar Security Network.

As someone looking to start with the real basics what would you recommend? Myself and future apprentices will appreciate all your answers!
