What are you trying to achieve with this conversion?
The chances of you finding the right amalgamation of plates to maintain that spacing and have it come out looking even halfway decent are, in my opinion, pretty slim.
Edit: I would hate to see you disrupt the appearance of what looks like a beautiful 100 year old door with a bunch of tacky wrap plates. I’m sure there’s better ways to achieve whatever it is you’re trying to do.
The cam, the thing screwed onto the back of the cylinder rotates when key is turned and triggers a mechanism just below the hole you would screw the mortise cylinder into. Assuming this is the exact cam you have on your cylinder, then you have an adams rite lock body. If you put the cylinder in and it works the lock, then the lock body is working.
So to answer your question if you wanna DIY, get the cylinder first and install. If it works, great. If it doesnt work, then you know the lock body isnt working like it should and you should call a locksmith.
Hello, I work for an IT company and we install card access. We hire locksmith to install the electric locks. We always use HES 9600 locks for our doors. On this door we had the HES installed and we show up after to fish the wire in the frame and wire it to the access control as usual. Except it’s a solid door frame. It looks to be a normal metal door and metal frame on a commercial building however when you drill into the frame it looks as if it’s packed with drywall of some sorts. And the walls around it are solid concrete prefab. Any ideas on how to fish the electric strike wires?
