Just bought a house with an August Smart lock, and the key turns the lock forever without unlocking the deadbolt? : Locksmith

Hi guys–I’m having a hard time finding a solution online, since most support is for sticky keys and is for issues that can be solved with WD-40. I’ve just bought a home and the previous owners had an August Smart Lock on the deadbolt (which they left for me). It works fine from inside and effectively locks the deadbolt, but when taking the key to the outside, the key will spin forever in the lock without unlocking the door. Because this key is good for all the locks (garage, door handle lock, patio), I’d prefer not to replace all the locks, but I”m wondering if this is familiar to someone here who can help me learn how to fix it? Relying just on the smart lock and garage door opener makes me a little nervous vs. having a physical key I can unlock my door with. Thanks!

Grandfathers Microscope that I haven’t seen in 30 years. I think this is the key. It has a bit of spring when it turns, but won’t open. Bad mechanism, bad key… who knows. Need some guidance, so I can share it with my kid as my parents did with me. I do have a 3d printer… just sayin. : Locksmith

I tried all locations with it… doesnt seem to make a difference. I did notice that the little metal piece that the key goes over is loose and wiggles. I was wondering if that can be tightened and could cause a problem?

Key turns but lock doesn’t work 90% of the time : Locksmith

Hi everyone! Have an issue where a new key that I had cut turns endlessly in the door lock but it doesn’t engage the actual lock 100% of the time, but it unlocks 100% of the time on the first try.

The original key also locks 100% of the time which is odd because the new key looks identical to the original key. Was wondering if anyone had any insight into where the issue might be? Apologies if this isn’t the right subreddit to be posting in. Thanks!
